DAVID ELSENBROICH is an active professional musician
and educator in the Los Angeles area, having earned his Bachelors
and Masters in Music from USC. During his years studying under
world-renowned jazz and western swing guitar player Bruce Forman,
David focused his attention exclusively on early American musical
styles and instruments. Since then he has gone on to start several
bands that specialize in everything from 1890s ragtime string
music to bluegrass from the 1940s. His 1930s swing band, The
Hi Fi Honeydrops, have become a staple in the Los Angeles swing
community and have received acclaim from the Los Angeles Times
for its fresh take on centuries-old music. In addition to playing
regularly, David teaches a wide array of instruments including
banjo, mandolin, lute, ukulele, guitar, lap steel and bass.
He also lectures on music history at Chaffey College in Rancho
Cucamonga. Last year, David treated RagFest audiences to the
entertaining string arrangements of The Elsenbroich Trio. This
year, he’ll be accompanied by ANDREW BARRETT on piano.
